Arrests Made Following Carjackings In The City Of Markham

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have arrested two men following two carjacking incidents in the City of Markham.

On Thursday, December 11, 2014, at approximately 10 p.m., two male suspects both armed with handguns approached a vehicle parked idling in the driveway of a residence on Medley Crescent, which is in the area of Brimley Road and Denison Street. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the driver of the vehicle and demanded he get out of the car, which was a black 2011 BMW 328I. The victim complied and the suspects got into the car and drove away.

On Friday, January 16, 2015, at shortly before 10:50 a.m., two male suspects armed with a handgun approached a man and his vehicle which was parked in a lot at 8601 Warden Avenue, in the area of Warden Avenue and Highway 7. The suspects pointed a gun at the victim and demanded he give them his vehicle, a white 2013 Mercedes C300. The victim complied and the suspects got into the car and drove away.

Investigators were able to identify the suspects responsible for the two carjacking robberies and on February 3, 2015, located and arrested them at a plaza located at 7766 Hwy #7, West, in the City of Vaughan.

Search warrants were executed on two residences and a vehicle associated to the accused which resulted in the seizure of a number of items including a Glock-style pellet gun.

Both accused are to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on February 4, 2015.
The stolen vehicles have not yet been recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
