The popular free music series “Thursday Nights at the Bandstand” hits the stage on consecutive Thursday evenings throughout June through August. Performances each evening run from 7:30 to 9 p.m.at Unionville’s Millennium Bandstand at the corner of Main Street and Fred Varley Drive. We’re back for Season 11!!! Our popular, free summer music series “Thursday Nights at the Bandstand” kicks off Unionville Festival 50 on May 30 with Community favorite Community Soul Project at Unionville’s Millennium Bandstand at the corner of Main Street and Fred Varley Drive. Organized by community-based Unionville Presents and funded by dedicated community spirited sponsors, the series attracts talented Canadian and International musical artists to the outdoor Millennium Bandstand for all to enjoy free of charge.
This year we are pleased to have B-Strong and Brain Tumor Research as our valued Community Awareness Partner. November 26, 2019 marks the 10th anniversary of Lindsay Bolger’s passing. Lindsay’s remarkable efforts with the establishment and legacy of B-Strong for Brain Tumor research while she personally struggled and ultimately succumbed to the disease at the young age of 26 was and continues to be unparalleled. August 29 will be a special tribute night to Lindsay Bolger and B-Strong. The 2019 series runs on 14 consecutive Thursday evenings from May 30 through August 29 from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
This year’s outstanding line-up continues on June 6 with Epic Journey, an all new tribute to Journey. First timer Fresh Horses brings a little bit of country on June 13 with a warm tribute to Garth Brooks, sure to get your feet stomping!! Popular dance band Sensation boogies in the first day of summer on June 20 getting you out of your chair and into your dancing shoes!! Fan favorite Hotel California returns on June 27 fresh from a spectacular sold out April date at Flato Theatre with the incomparable harmonies of the Eagles and the all new Don Henley on the kit.
2019 multiple Academy Award winning Bohemian Rhapsody will Rock You on July 4 with Simply Queen’s tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen. First timer glamorous, talented Shania Twin fresh from her Vegas act graces the stage on July 11 with her tribute to Canada’s own Shania!! Fan favorite Night Fever and the multiple dance hits of the Bee Gees are back on July 18 for yet another big dance night on the piazza!! The incomparable Rocket Man Elton Rohn with his magnificent performance and outstanding tribute to Elton John’s greatest hits returns on July 25 following another outstanding performance in early April at Flato Theatre.
First timers, Jukebox Heroes International Tribute to Foreigner on August 1 opens our final month of the season with their tribute to the unique US/UK band Foreigner together with one of the greatest hits of all time I Want to Know What Love Is!!! Mamma Mia!!, ABBA Revisited returns on August 8 with their tribute to ABBA, one of the most commercially successful bands of all time. Perennial favorite performing on August 15 is Unionville’s adopted Thursday Nights at the Bandstand artist and World Music chart-topper Johannes Linstead performing his brilliant fiery classical repertoire to light up the mid-August night!!! Dreamer and their Supertramp Experience will be sure to bring back some fond memories of the progressive pop rock band Supertramp on August 22. Brass Transit returns on August 29 to close out our 11th season with their unparalleled tribute to Chicago highlighting a special evening dedicated to the memory of Lindsay Bolger and B-Strong.
